Meeting Hai and Alice was such an unexpected blessing when Hai’s sister contacted me wanting to organise a beloved session for them as a wedding gift. As beloved is the absolute dearest thing to my heart as an artist and a person I thought it was a truly incredible gift. Needless to say I was so excited to meet them, create a collection of images that would capture the precious connection they share and become the perfect wedding gift for them.
We made plans to meet at Cockatoo Island, a place that Hai and Alice had fallen in love with after attending an outdoor jazz concert earlier in the year (don’t you love them already?). I had heard rumours about how amazing the island was, but nothing could have prepared me for what I found when the ferry docked. An abundance of abandoned warehouses and ship building equipment, old sandstone prison cells and gatehouses, tunnels and walls. Saying I love that kind of thing would be the understatement of the century and I was truly giddy the entire time that Hai, Alice and I explored the island, chatted and even picniced together (thanks to Hai’s culinary brilliance) until sunset.
These two gorgeous souls have already shared so much during their journey together that has strengthened them as a couple and I could not feel more blessed to have been given this opportunity to be involved in one small part of that for them.
