I arrived in the early morning sunlight and was welcomed inside to a family relaxed in pyjamas, watching cartoons, jumping on lounges, eating toast while making the regular weekend skype to family overseas who surely can’t get enough of the two sweet babies pictured below. I was offered a coffee and we sat and talked while they went about their Saturday morning routine and was occasionally flashed with an impish grin from the lounge jumpers. By the time I pulled out the camera I was being told all about big school next year and getting the grand tour of a room fit for a princess and shown every toy and every book with excitement. It was then that I knew there was definitely not going to be any problem capturing the real in this family. And what a beautiful real it was!
I could not have asked for a more perfect morning. A family being real. Not rushed, not worried (not even when little Mr M fell over and scraped his elbow in the first 2 minutes) and by the end of the session Miss E had given me an open invitation to come over to her house any time. It made me smile, knowing that the experience had been joyful for them and I was honoured to have made such special new friends. I love that photography has opened up a world of lovely connections with people, big and little, I would not have had otherwise. Enjoy the overload of precious that follows.
